Our opening day will be Saturday, April 18th!  Come check out what we’ve done to the new store!

Sorry it’s taking longer to open than we anticipated.  The building we are moving into was built in 1911 and we’ve had to make some modifications to bring it up to code.  One of the issues we had to face was widening the staircase from 34 inches to 36 inches which meant replacing the entire staircase.  The electrical and plumbing is pretty much done, we’re still working on finishing the downstairs party room.  We’ve also had to restore our old location to its original condition which meant ripping out all the plumbing and electrical we installed.  So when will we be open?  At this point it looks like Mid April but we’ll let you know as soon as we have an exact date.  Our first movie is still scheduled for May 2nd so look for that.  Ok, back to work!

Summer is quickly approaching which means the start of the outdoor movie season.  Help us decide which movies you would like us to show.  The following movies are suggestions for our May movies: Bolt, Bedtime Stories, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Marley & Me, Mall Cop, Madagascar 2, Hotel for Dogs.  Either send your request to mail@smoovies.com or reply to this post!  Hurry because we need to turn in our list to the Parks department soon.

We took a trip out to Portland this weekend and bought 32 new chairs for the store!  You can view a picture of them here: https://www.centralrestaurant.com/centralstore/images/stdimage/636-051.jpg (We got the natural color as pictured).  Combine those with our black granite tables and they look sweet!  We also had our first meeting with the Richland Business Improvement District this morning and they approved our plans for the Smoovies Marketplace.  Next step is to get approval from the city.  The plumbers started work today and we hope to get the electricians in next week.  So far everything is moving along well!

Come celebrate customer appreciation day this Sunday, March 1st!  We will be giving away a free scoop of ice cream from 12pm-3pm.  This is our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers for supporting us for the past 2 years at the Keene location.

Please submit your summer movie suggestions now!  Due to movie licensing restrictions, we are only allowed to show Disney films in May, August, and September.  In May we are planning to show: Bolt, Bedtime Stories, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Wall-E, College Road Trip, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Tinkerbell, Ratatouille, High School Musical 3, Beauty and the Beast.

This summer is going to be a blast!  With our new location, expanded menu, outdoor movies at John Dam Plaza, and the Smoovies Marketplace this should be our most exciting summer yet.  If you want to be a part of our team, please submit your applications now!  Go to our website (smoovies.com) to fill out an application.

We need help moving and cleaning!  If you are strong and able bodied we need your help moving out of the old location and into our new location.  Be among the first to view the inside of our new building.  All volunteers will be handsomely rewarded with food and drinks and most of all our gratitude.  We also are seeking help with the Smoovies Marketplace.  The Smoovies Marketplace is a street fair that we hope to put on in The Parkway on the weekends during the summer before our outdoor movies.  We are looking for greeters, an organizer, someone willing to dress up in a mascot costume, people to supervise the bounce house, someone to help set up booths, etc.  If you are willing to volunteer for this community event we could use your help.

Because of our preparation to move to the new building, we have not promoted the fact that we are DirecTV dealers.  We need to sell a minimum number every quarter to keep our dealership status.  If you are interested in signing up for DirecTV, please give us a call.  To sweeten the pot, we are offering a $50 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, The Gap, Olive Garden or Smoovies to anyone who signs up in February or March.  This is a Smoovies only exclusive so please email or call us now!
